Information centre and multiplier

The primary task of the IZW, at first founded as an association in 1970, is to provide systematic information. We present tinplate to the general public as a versatile, innovative and non-polluting material. As the central point of contact for all questions having to do with tinplate, the IZW serves journalist and consumers, packaging designers as well as representatives from business and politics. Since 2005 the IZW belongs to the Rasselstein GmbH, Germany's only tinplate producer, in Andernach.
Press and consumer services
An important communication building block of the IZW is the press and consumer services. Besides press releases and special interest reports on current topics, many other publications provide information about the latest developments in the industry. Whether it is technical trends, new products in or of tinplate, tinplate recycling or recipe tips – we keep you up to date!
Tinplate and the environment
Tinplate is an ideal recyclable material with a high resource efficiency. That means it can be recycled over and over again without a reduction in quality. Together with ThyssenKrupp Stahl we conduct steel mill tours. Schools and other educational organizations, the IZW offers a "media kit", which informs about the recycling process. Our portable wall display provides information for all kinds of exhibitions. The display is available for open door activities, environmental events, conventions, schools, and information days of cities, communities or recyclers.
Co-operation
At the national level, Rasselstein and the IZW maintain close contact with the Verband Metallverpackungen e.V. (VMV), (Metal Packaging Association), Aktion Saubere Landschaft (Clean Landscape Campaign) and the Initiative „Die Dosenköche“ (the “can cooks” initiative). Internationally we collaborate with APEAL, the European association of tinplate manufacturers, which communicates directly with multinational food and drinks companies and their organizations.
